Supine Spinal Twist
Supta Matsyendrasana (SOUP-tah MOT-see-en-DRAHS-anna)
Gently twists spine. Stretches chest, shoulders, and outer hips. Releases tension. Calming and restorative.

You Should Feel
Gentle twist through your spine. Stretch across your chest and outer hip. Release and ease.
How to Get Into the Pose
- 1Lie on your back, draw one knee to chest
- 2Guide knee across your body toward the ground
- 3Opposite arm extends out to side
- 4Gaze toward outstretched hand or stays neutral
- 5Both shoulders root down (top shoulder may lift—that's fine)
Modifications
- •If knee doesn't reach ground: Place block or blanket under knee
- •If neck is sensitive: Keep gaze neutral
- •If too intense: Keep bottom leg bent instead of extended
- •To deepen: Extend the leg that's crossing over your body
